Ok this is one of those sort of things that most people will think because Anderson is so dominant at middleweight he can walk through to 205 no problem. I'm not so sure. dont get me wrong in his weight class no one has been able to touch the spider however to move up another 15 pounds is a big deal. not to mention his first test is no one to scoff at. The sandman James Irvin is one of those not so well known but heavily skilled fighters. I havent seen much of his ground game but his Muay Thai is scary. Speed goes to Spider but you'd be crazy to not give the power to Irvin. So here's my Question: regardless of this next fight can Silva walk through the 205 division like he did the middlewieght? or should he stick with a damn good thing that he's still got goin

He won't walk through it, but he will be able to do well IMO. HE should stay at 185 though...

He is a good fighter and all, but I just don't see him "walking" through the LHW division and I say if him and Hendo meet again, no matter what the weight, Hendo takes it.

Ummm.... I don't see Henderson beating Silva at 185. 205 probably yeah... But not at 185. Personally I think if Pierre and Silva fought at like 180... GSP would beat him. Which is why I think he went up in weight rather then dropping down to have a catch weight with GSP. Is the Irvin fight actually at 205 or is it catch weight?

I'd argue that about GSP. I like him alot and hes one of my favorite fighters but he has to show some title defenses now not to mention i'm not entirely convinced he has the mental strength of silva. Now is Silva ducking GSP i dont know it wouldnt surprise me. I'm not knocking on rush or anything i just think he has a little more to prove. whereas silva has defended without any fight going into the third round thusfar. now I also think that the welterweight division is also more stacked with good fighters so that could be the bigger factor as well. But then again for silva who naturally weighs around 215 to cut to middleweight is tough cutting all the way to 170 could be murder. I mean 45 pounds is crazy even if you do have four months or so. If GSP was to move up though.....who knows it could be a good fight.

I'm sorry but Silva is very good... I mean very good, but GSP has a total skill set. The only thing that has plagued GSP is one lucky ass KO at the hands of Serra. He lost to Hughes, but that was his first real shot at a "Top Name" so that isn't a big deal to me... GSP has the best skills of anyone at any weight. He just tends to get lazy because he is that much better... Is it arrogant, hell yeah, but fuck if I was that much better I might get lazy too...

I have no doubt that Silva will annhialate Irvin. The reason you don't know much about his ground skills is because they aren't terribly noteworthy. His stand up is decent but his chin is suspect. Silva is all around better. GSP IMO is the more well rounded fighter but he is still smaller than Silva and that would cost him.
