Future welterweight contender has arrived in SoHK!
SoHK's own ring announcer Michael Gurtner caught up with the welterweight star, talking to him about his past, his future, Kazama MMA, and his style of fighting.
MG: Hey Jin, it's an honor to finally meet ya, I've heard tons about you. Is it alright if I get a quick interview?
JK: Hey man, it's not a problem at all.
MG: So last time I saw your name, it was for winning the famous Tekken tournament, also known as the King of the Iron Fist tournament. How did you go about doing that?
JK: It was difficult to say the least. My grandfather, Heihatchi Mishima, was running things and had set up all the odds against me, hoping to see me lose, I worked through it, and persevered.
MG: Whats the deal with you and your family?
JK: Well my mother was the closest to me. She taught me her Kazama-style Self-Defense. She was attacked by an ogre, whom seeked the greatest fighters in the world, and she disappeared. From then on I went to live with my grandfather, who taught me Mishima style fighting Karate, eventually he turned on me. After his betrayel, I forced myself to unlearn the Mishima Karate, and fight with just my mothers Kazama Kickboxing. Eventually I would re-learn it to create my own style of fighting.
MG: What is your style of fighting?...
JK: My style is a mix of Kazama Self-Defense Kickboxing and Mishima Style Karate. Its highly based on striking.
MG: So your a striker?
JK: Yes
MG: Tell me about your team, Kazama MMA...
JK: Of course, my new project with my business and training partner Shawn Richter. I met Shawn very randomly...he was a street fighter, and was being attacked by a mob, so I went on to help him out, and here we are today. Shawn helped me create a school to train the young, the experienced and the willing. Kazama MMA is now on the map, and we plan on keeping it that way. Soon we will show the wolrd the power that is Kazama MMA.
MG: Your school is quite large, how did you choose your SoHK fight team?
JK: We went through hundreds of our fighters and other fighters and we found the best guys at each weight class. Shawn of course at heavyweight. Stephen Floyd, who is an amazing kickboxer, at light-heavyweight. Hideki Ominura at middleweight. Myself of course at welterweight, and my personal friend Matthew Phelan rounding us out at lightweight.
MG: It was great talking to you, and I hope to see you soon. Best of luck to ya!
JK: Thanks for having me Michael.
