Holy shit, one minute in and out and Silva collects another paycheck. I thought that with Irvins tough as nails style he would get past the first round but nevermind. Silva caught that body kick and crushed his opponents chin with that beautiful cross. god damn i will never stop being shocked by this guy. Moving on to the more surprising things throughout the night. CB dolloway walked through Jesse Taylor without looking back and i will admit i was shocked. i thought taylor would take him down and ground and pound him out for three rounds and collect a decision. beautiful necktie by the arizona state wrestler and i am looking forward to him, Amir and Creuder fighting in the 185 division. Anthony johnson showed the class of a champion by losing a TKO loss to Kevin Burns despite getting hit with an illegal strike by getting poked in the eye. it looked accidental and rather than bitch and moan Johnson said to quit booing burns that has earned my respect forever. Edgar dominated Franca with the exception of a submission attempt in the first round and he rocked Edgar in the last round. but Edgar keeps looking good with good control and nice ground and pound. he is really impressive striking in the pocket as well. I'm waiting for him to get some submissions to his aresenal and he will really be the full package in my opinion. Okay more stuff Cain Velasquez im[pressed me by not only beating Jake Obrian but dominating him in a salavary position and just out controlling the wrestling fighter in Obrain. I think he is the real deal and i look forward to more of his fights. Finally I am giving Vera the bennifit of the doubt tonight. it looks like he had a bad cut and looked tired, he out mannuvered and beat Reese Andy in every aspect he just didnt have the gas tank tonight. i expect his next big fight to be much better. Rory Markarm, I think everyone knows who he is know with that huge head kick KO over Brodie Farber. Farber rocked Markarm and was chasing him when Rory let a monsters kick smash his chin in. Nice shot. lookin forward to seein both these guys in their next fight. and markarm looked like it was no big deal like he almost expected him to fall from the shot. it was sweet. if Silva wasnt on the same card he prolly would have taken KO of the night hands down. I'm not sure but i was a bit more shocked with the Silva knockout just by how it happened. Nice set of fights and it was a well speant evening.

Markam's KO was WAY better.... A lot of people thought Silva could KO the Sandman, but maybe not that fast, and unless you are a retard you saw it coming right when he caught that kick. Irvin's eyes went wide and you could almost tell what he was thinking by his face... "OH FUCK!". And then he got blasted. I think he bitched out though when he just sat on the ground. He looked aware after the fit punch, but he didn't even try to scramble or block anything. It's almost like he just gave up... I dunno.... I guess I question Irvin's heart after that. As for Rory... Dude, he was rawked, and running away so he didn't get KOed when BAM a pin point accurate high kick.... It was totally unexpected, so I say that KO was more impressive and should have gotten the KO of the night.
I'm just glad Silva said he would stay at 185 and defend his belt and not worry about 205 unless UFC wants him to fight there. Which I doubt they do until he drops the MW belt.

Silva looked great, I think his next fight will be Okami but from the rumors I've heard, it sounds like Okami broke his hand, so it could be Cote next for Silva's title.

I highly doubt that either could really contend right now. I mean Okami won the last fight but it was by DQ. So I think Silva could definatly make an example of him. his eighth example. oy ve every time im shocked by this guy. Cote maybe can stand, (I said maybe he has a couple shockers himself every so often) but his jiu jitsu defense has been suspect before. both Lutter and Deokerskin proved that. Now he did just go three rounds with Almedia so maybe its gotten alot better i dont know for sure after just one fight. And no i didnt automatically assume a KO right after he caught the kick, I've seen that move a thousand times in MMA and most times it knocks the guy back and he tries to get full guard. And i've never seen anyone finished from that initial punch. you said yourself he didnt scramble at all so a that point you must have assumed he wasnt out from the first shot. I mean this is james irvin while he may not be the best fighter out there he is known for his wild bull stand and throw crazy haymakers and take them as well on his granite chin without blinking. so ya the silva knockout shocked me a bit more. Markham was shocking too but i've seen people knock out others when rocked. examples, Chris Leben on Terry Martin, or Scott Smith on Pete Sell. now those were both punches but still i had seen that before.

Dude.... it's ANDERSON SILVA! He is known for KOs... Ask Rich Franklin... When he caught the foot you knew Irvin was getting dropped. His hands were at his waist for fuck sake! He was meat right then and there... No, I didn't think he was KOed from the first hit. It was I believe the 3rd hit on the ground that ended it. Irvin just gave up before he ever put up any sort of defense. Which shows Irvin has little to no idea what to do when on the ground. KO of the night is a KO from one shot that is the most amazing. Knocking someone down and then hitting them 5 more time IMO is not shocking or uncommon. Seeing a guy getting beaten around and suddenly throw a high kick knocking a guy stiff is both shocking and more impressive.

Honestly, I think Fedor was more impressive than Anderson though. Sure Anderson was moving up, but he's a natural LHW so it's not a big move or anything. Fedor fought a guy that had 30 lbs and 8 inches on him, not to mention Big Tim is a very, very, tough guy to handle because of his awkward style and size. Tim after the fight said he'd never been hit so hard and that he thinks Fedor is not human. Big Tim is also a legitimate top 5 contender at HW and Irvin isn't even top 10, probably not even close. The fastest win in UFC aside he's really done nothing spectacular. The bottom line is he had no business being in the cage with anyone that's top 10. Big Tim was much more deserving, even though he lost to Nogueira and Randy he has only lost to elite fighters and he almost had Nog on dream street. Hate him or not, Big Tim is not easy to finish and he has the ability to KO almost anyone. He just has to pull the trigger more often. Fedor also did something Randy could not, he finished Tim. Not only did he knock his ass down, he then proceeded to submit him with an unorthodox RNC. Silva's win was impressive no doubt, but I don't think he had as impressive of a performance as Fedor.

We weren't comparing Fedor... We were debating the KO of the night on the UFC card. I will say though that from what I have heard Fedors win was dominant to say the least.

Ya i get that it was anderson silva but i didnt expect that one single shot to put him out like that. every other guy he has faught it took more than one shot to finish his opponent. even against leben it took several shots. Nate Marquart took lots of heavy shots before finishin him on the ground. Rich Franklin in both bouts were taking tons of big shots before And i thought that Irvin had a better chin than all of them because he was more of a striker than all of them. not that he was necisarily better but because his ground game aint the best as mentioned. So i thought that one shot no matter how clean was gonna finish him. So ya it shocked me more, didnt expect it from that position either with only one leg held. not takin anything away from Markham i was still really impressed with him and i wanna see him more but like i said saw it before. As for fedor...didnt see it but 36 seconds against a monster like sylvia rested all my doubt (which wasnt much) that he was rusty or that he was night fighting solid competition because he was scared.

I watched the UFC show because the only Affliction fight I wanted to see was the Fedor/Sylvia and I seen that this morning on mmatko.com...WOW! I am one of those people who didn't give Fedor much credit because he was over in Pride fighting guys who either weren't proven or they were pretty much washed up. He got opponents that were oddities either because of their height, size, or weight and he destroyed them. He wasn't getting real talent put against him. I don't believe UFC's old fighters should be seen as challenges to Fedor but then enter Tim Sylvia and I figured this was his first real challenge outside Matt Linland. I am amazed with Fedor now and have been watching more of these "Oddity" bouts from Pride against the talent he did on occasion come across like Nogeria(sp?) or Crop Cop (If you still consider him talent) and he was very skilled and made shit look good. "The Last Emperor" is a fitting nickname for Fedor over there in Japan but here in America people might start calling him "Captin Bust Your Ass" after that fight against Syliva. Anderson Silva looked good too and I was hyped for that as well. That undercard bout with Markarm was cool as hell and I know he's a name I will see many times again. I am very entertained and excited about future MMA cards upcoming...
