Underrated and Overrated

ok this is the thread to talk about the guys in MMA that you think are either overrated or underrated try to talk about one of each.

Underrated: Nick Diaz. Okay this drives me up the friggin wall. Diaz is a top tier fighter and i cant count how many times he has upset opponents. It seems everytime he loses its cuz of a decision (Joe Riggs was a bullshit decision and i stand by that) or gets stopped on medical shit. He beat Gomi for cryin out loud. and i dont give a shit that it counts as a NC he beat him and they took it away because he was smokin weed. thats bullshit its not a performance enhancer like nanodrome and Sherk got to keep his W. what the fuck. He lost a title match to KJ Noons on a cut that was bad but friggin Noons said that he had no scar tissue and the cut was all him which is bogus. moving on, Diaz is an awesome fighter and i cant understand besides his attitude why he isnt a higher regarded fighter

Overrated: Micheal Bisping. okay first of all i like Bisping alot. he is one of my favorite fighters but it was Charles McCarthy of all peoplewho pointed this out. who has he beaten? Eric Shcafer? not impressive. Elvis Sinosic? you kiddin? Matt Hamill? still a nobody but i thought it was a bad decision due to all the takedowns and damage. Rashad Evans? another overated fighter but he lost a close decision. Jason Day? WHO? That's why i am excited for UFC89. He has an opponent he can hang his hat on in Chris Leben if he wins. and it will erase all my doubt. Leben has lost only 4 times. (I know Bisping has only the one loss) but he got ko's by the worlds best, caught in a submission by Jason MacDonald. Got cheated in a decision by Kalib "The Bitch" Starnes. While all his victories make him look good. I am not saying Bisping is a bad fighter dont take it like that. but he needs a couple valid wins before he gets hyped up this much. I think his submission defense is top notch and his striking and counterpunching is great. but ground game needs work. takedown defense needs work. I'm lookin forward to his next fight

.........lmao, Bisping is a great fighter. Jason Day was actually a very dangerous opponent. Bisping has looked great since dropping to 185. He even looked great at 205. I thought Schafer was a dangerous fight for Bisping because he has great takedowns and submissions. You have to give these guys credit, they do one of the hardest jobs in the world and make a great living out of it. As for Diaz, the only way to get this Noons stoppage behind them is to do a rematch and if they rematch I pick Noons by 2nd round TKO. Noons is a bad match up for Diaz, whether you like KJ or not, he is a horrible match up for Nick. His boxing is so good and thats how he damaged Nick in the first fight. I scored the first round a 10-8 round for Noons. Diaz will HAVE to fight better next time around or it's going to be the same fight.

but you cant tell me you think that Diaz is overrated.
Also i wasnt dissin on bisping said that already but he still hasnt beaten anyone worth noting. Jason Day did what? knock out the gatekeeper Alan Belcher? Eric Schafer was a bad match up maybe but not really a solid opponent.
I do agree that he looks better at middleweight you really cant bully him like rashad and hamill did
but what im sayin bout bisping is that people are already talkin about a title shot with him. against Silva? no way. its a horrible match up right now. Bisping has good striking yes but so does Franklin. I actually think that bisping and Franklin have very Similiar styles now that i think about it. not alot of difference good punchers and counter punchers. good submission defense. hmmmmm, could be an interesting fight.

I don't think Diaz is underrated at all. He's had some bad breaks against some tough fighters and some good wins as well against some good fighters, but he's not underrated. There was a time that he was the talk of the town and regarded as a pretty big thing after KOing Lawler. But dropping 3 fights in a row (no matter who they are to) is going to knock some wind from your sails and people will start to focus on other fighters.

Everyone knows Diaz is a good fighter, he just lost some of his hype lately. He's still young though he's got time to build it all back up.

I do agree however that Bisping is a bit overrated currently. I just don't think he's proven he's as good as his name has become with the opponents he's been facing.

Rashad Evans was the same way, though he has a couple wins over quality opponents and a draw against Tito, which ain't bad. now if he really would just start fighting to win instead of fighting not to lose, he'd be in business. I mean seriously, Rashad may keep winning, but they most of them have been by the narrowest of margins. Something like 3 split decisions, a majority decision and a draw since entering the UFC through mostly LnP? Not exactly going for the jugular if you ask me, but the fact that he has his hand raised at the end attests to his skills.
