Jesse Taylor has been given another shot at the UFC despite his horrible behavior and representation towards the world of MMA.
It just takes one of these guys to ruin the whole view of the sport. It's because of guys like this that MMA and the UFC get such a bad rap. Now i am not saying people cant change but at the same time can you really change a guy who seems to be a few cards short of a full deck anyways?
Also on that card is two very interesting fights.
First is Brandon "The Truth" Vera fighting at Lightheavyweight for the first time. where i felt he was a force at heavyweight despite losing a close decision to Tim Sylvia and a bad stoppage against Febricio Werdum (Not takin anything away from the guy just thought it was a quick stop). But at 205 he has a bit of a warmup bout against a no name called Reese Andy. Who not only is an unknown but seems to be a bad matchup for Vera. he has a wrestling backround and Vera seems to excel against grapplers with vicious strikes and lightning quick submissions if you dont believe me just check out his fight against Assuerio Silva. or his first round knockout against Justin Eilers. or his dominating performance on Mike Whitehead. not to mention his submission defense cant be all bad since he has already klnocked out the current number 1 contender for the heavyweight title Frank Mir.
The Second bout is the returning Hermes Franca and the always impressive 'Answer' in Frankie Edgar. Now some say it is a comming out party for Franca who has one hit ko power demonstrated against Vet and elite lightweight Spencer Fisher, plus his Jiu-Jitsu is a on point with more than four of his last six victories resulting in submission. However I think Edgar is a real force at lightweight with wins over the always exciting Tyson Griffin, and Spencer Fisher. his biggest weakness seems to be not being able to finish fights. he only has one KO and that was against Mark Bocek who is anything but remarkable with his chin or submission defense. However he is extremely well rounded and ever improving with his standup and ground and pound. his only loss was to get outwrestled by TUF alumni Gray Maynard who slammed him repetivly and Edgar didnt really have an answer. However when he meets up with Franca he wont have to worry about getting outwrestled. however the submissions and hands are always scary. I think Edgar will pull out another exciting decision but for this guy to really bounce up that ladder he needs to finish some fights. This was my only diss against former champ Sean Sherk as well. you gotta be able to finish. its key.
the rest of the fights seemed to be filled with onesided bouts or battles of no names on the undercard. So i dont know what to expect besides the main event and those few fights i mentioned. it should be good but about what you can expect from Dana White making a free match just to combat the ppv fight of Fedor vs. Sylvia which is on the same day.
